Drug prescribing policy

Strictly no drugs of addiction (including opiates and benzodiazepines) will be prescribed at any first visit to a new patient.

Consultation Information

Standard Appointments

Standard Appointments are 20mins. If you require a longer appointment, please let the reception staff know at the time of booking the appointment. We also offer on the day appointment’s for acute medical issues. Your appointment can be face to face or via Telehealth, if you have been seen for a face to face consultation within the practice in the last 12 months.

Multiple Appointments

Multiple appointments are needed if more than one family member wishes to see the doctor at the same time. Please ensure a separate appointment is made for each family member.

Cancellations

We appreciate your ability to let us know if you are unable to attend an appointment. A fee of $55 applies if you fail to attend your appointment.

Referrals & Prescriptions

An appointment needs to be made with your doctor for referrals or prescriptions. Please note that referrals cannot be back dated, as this is illegal.

Workers Compensation / Third Party

If you require an appointment for either of these, please ensure that all details of either the employer or insurance company involved are brought with you to the appointment, and the account will be sent to them. Failure to provide these details will obligate you to pay the fee.

Weekend Appointments

Our Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) is open on the weekends from 9am - 5pm. The UCC is a free walk-in clinic and patients are seen according to urgency of the appointment.

Home Visits

While home visits may be offered in certain circumstances, this will be at the discretion of your Doctor. Fees apply.

Contacting Your Doctor

As you are aware our Doctors have a very busy schedule. If you need to speak to your doctor, you will need to make an appointment. If the matter is urgent please let the reception staff know at the time of calling. Alternatively, you may speak with one of our practice nurses or email info@northwesthealth.com.au for electronic communication. One of our friendly staff will follow up your concerns.
